Have Fun

MomThought.com Episode #137

Welcome I’m Joan Romero at Momthought.com. Thanks for joining me today. Today’s Momthought is Have Fun.

Whether it be in your marriage, or with your children handling your household, working in the home, or any of the other various activities that you participate in, I encourage you to have fun. If you try to get the work done in order to have fun later it may never come. The work never ends.

There’s always something more to be done. There’s always another head to brush, teeth to brush. There’s always more cloths to wash, something to be baked, someone to be called, some place to go. But whatever it is, you can start right now. Right at the very moment, in turning what ever it is that you’re doing into something that’s fun.
My husband says that courtship starts at marriage. Not that we didn’t court before marriage, but that it becomes more interesting, more challenging. It’s harder to surprise each other, it’s harder to get up and do something fun. But it makes it all the more meaningful when you do.

When you’re able to get the kids to bed and stay up a little later together; when you’re able to make macaroni and cheese into a gourmet meal. It’s all a matter of perspective. It’s a matter of how you see things and what you want to see.

You can see your children as a chore. You need to get them up. You need to get them fed. You need to get them dressed. You need to keep them clean. You hope that they’re polite. You hope that they share. You hope that they don’t offend anyone.

Or you can see them as your own personal entertainment. You can see them as interesting conversation. You can see them as your escape from the real world and took place of pirates and princesses. Your home can be a castle or a pirate ship. You can even get the other pirates involved in swapping the deck. Or the tricycle can be the delivery system for taking all the toys back to the toybox.

So with a little creative thinking and sometimes shaking things around a little bit, you can take an ordinary day and make it extraordinary just by deciding to have fun.

Joan Romero
